They do answer.... They are always super busy
Curry is excellent with veggies. Delicious and recommended.
Yes there is take out
They sell the sesame salad dressing. The curry sauce packets are only available in the restaurants in Japan or certain online retailers.
No. The regular curry sauce is vegetarian though.
No, because the restaurant is small. They seat by first come first served. When you walk in there is a podium yo the left of the register where you will need to sign in, if there is a wait.
Depends on what is pricey to you and quality of food. Food quality is great, customer service and cleanliness are mediocre. Pricing for 2 is usually about $30 (incl. tip) for my daughter and I with 2 cups of water.
Chicken breast
The curry here is fantastic! I was told that it's pretty close to the curry they sell at coco's in Japan. I had high expectations, and I left satisfied. The place is a sitdown restaurant, and it is lit brightly, with a fast food feel. They gave us water as soon as we were seated. We went with the "make your own" option. I ordered the chicken cutlet/pork cutlet, added cheese, heat 3. The hotness was supposed to be "like a jalapeno " it didnt really have a kick. Get a 4 or 5 if you want the kick. I tried the pork gyoza, and the spicy chicken too. Both were excellent, the chicken almost tasted like a hot wing. The breading was nice and crunchy. The gyoza was fried nicely as well.Drink refills are free. They give paper straws. Kinda funny! If you like this review please give ðŸ‘
I go there all the time it's my go to comfort food place and everyone is so nice.
What a great treat, honestly the food is so delectable. My family raves about the food here, along with the excellent service. It is another small restaurant but really great for every day, hanging with friend or family or even a casual date. Good prices, if your not into spice just go with regular otherwise if your like me kick it up a notch. Very clean and well kept dinning area. Small tables to help accommodate with the space. Take home time ranges from15 to 20 minutes to order ahead of time.
Ordered the Spicy Teriyaki Fried Chicken curry with normal level of spiciness for the curry. The curry and the chicken was delicious, and was just spicy enough to make me sweat quite a bit but not make me hate myself. I wish there was some side dishes or free vegetable toppings, all I got was rice, chicken, and curry. Will try again though, curious about the curry udon.
Good service! They have so many different grades of spicy.
Awesome curry location! It is one the the best places to get Japanese curry...period! CoCo is a chain of curry restaurants that originate in Japan and are located all over select locations in Asia, California and Hawaii. At the location I got the fried chicken curry with brown rice, a spice of 4 out of 10 with keema curry (minced chicken curry). You can customize the type of rice you want, the amount, the level of spiciness, type of curry and type of meat you want. 4 on the spicyness level is pretty spicy for most people so I would recommend staying with 0-2 to be safe. Try the Japanese soda, Calpico as well!
Amazing curry house! *Almost* as good as Japan. It's got that LA price tag that you can't really miss. Try the keema cheese fries! You won't be disappointed.
Oh my God, there's a CoCo Curry in America. Guys, try this at least once. Be careful, the spice level ranges from "tingling lips" to "flamethrower directly in the mouth." I find level 2 to be a good jumping in point, but if you can't do spice at all, they have mild levels. Add in some cheese, corn and an egg, and enjoy. Don't forget to give their vegetable croquet a try.
CoCo Ichibanya is my favorite chain on the planet, that I have been to. Let me clarify, I mean in Japan. When visiting LA one fo the things I was most excited about was visiting the only CoCo location in America that I know of. In Japan I will eat at one of these almost every other day. However, the experience did not transfer to this American location. The menu was missing a lot of the things I loved most, including the fried shrimp cutlets, and none of the meat tasted quite right, or didn't seem as flavorful. The only really familiar thing was the curry base, outside of that this was very much a poor man's CoCo Ichibanya. Staff was fantastic, though.
Pretty good curry spot in the heart of Koreatown. I've had my fair share of curry in Tokyo and Osaka and unfortunately this missed the mark regarding quality
To be honest, this place is good but not quite as good as the fast food chains in Japan with a similar name. However the service and the Ambiance here are good. It's hard to match the food quality off the food in Japan. One of the big differences between the restaurants here in the US versus Japan is that they don't serve beer here because some of the servers might be under aged. They do have various fruit shakes here which are healthy alternative.
This was some really great curry! There are a lot of options to create excellent curry dishes. The spicy levels don't mess around either anything over level 3 might be too much for a lot of people. The variety of drinks is really good too. There aren't a lot of parking options in the area, but you might get lucky with street parking. The prices are reasonable for LA, but it really depends on how you configure your meal.
The curry and fries were great just like the ones in Japan, but the pork was REALLY tough to bite through...That being said, still one of the better curry places I’ve been to in the states.
Good food for a very reasonable price.. loved their curry and chicken..
One of the best curry franchise, the menu is a little different than Japan but you wont miss the most important.
The curry is bomb! That means it's very good. Lol
This is a popular Japanese curry chain that lives up to its popularity! The customizability of the menu means you can get exactly what you want. I recommend getting cheese in your curry if you're feeling adventurous.I ordered a chicken cutlet cheese omelet rice with added spinach at spice level 4. WOULD RECOMMEND!
So it’s almost as good as the locations in Japan. I noticed a drop off in spice levels. If you’re ordering a 5 in JP get a 6 here. Prices are obviously way worse (plus tip culture boo) but all in all very nice staff and great food!
We fell in love with this casual restaurant chain when we visited Tokyo a few years ago. We ate it probably every other day while we were in Japan. So we were pleasantly surprised when they opened a Coco Curry in L.A. Just like in Japan the food comes out fast, hot, and super tasty. The one thing I miss that is not offered on the U.S. menu?.. The soft-boiled eggs that they do so perfectly at the Japan CoCo Curry House. You can choose from endless combinations of toppings and spice levels - choose your desired 1) rice amount; 2) curry spice level; and 3) toppings (meat and vegetarian options). I usually choose Spice Level 7, but I recommend starting much lower and working up until you find your threshold. The mango lassi helps to tone down the burn if you need to. And if you don't know what toppings to pick there are popular suggestions on the menu. Cheese, corn, and vegetable croquette toppings are always in my personal rotation.
I think if someone is super hungry, I would suggest this place to be - not just the quantity but also maintains quality in their curry specialties.. i chose level 4 spice level, and there is a price tag for each level which is interesting! Their chicken is fried to perfection and chicken omelette with rice was amazing and so filling
The location is very clean and staff very friendly. Overall this has been my go to for spicy cravings. I'd highly recommend them. The curry is also vegan friendly!
Good food and atmosphere, low wait times and friendly wait staff.
Sugoi!!!! I love that you're able to customize the size of your rice and the toppings. Friendly staff and yummy food! I got a chicken cutlet cheese with extra small rice, corn and tomato toppings and spicy teriyaki chicken. I 🔠'd out.
When I was stationed overseas I was introduced to this marvelous place. Glad to see they have a few in the US. It tasted just as it did in Japan. Chicken cutlet, level 4, with cheese is so good. If only they had one in CO.
Comforting japanese curry spot, with a ton of toppings to choose from. The gratin rice is also super delicious, with it's crispy cheese topping over curry rice.
